Review: Timex-End-Neighbourhood TW2T25000

"Three brands from three continents. Timex is a watchmaker from the US; END is a retailer from the UK and the streetwear brand Neighbourhood is from Japan. Together, they part their creativity to produce this limited edition vintage looking timepiece. A very familiar and famous design. The watch reminds me of the Rolex 6204 first Submariner. Look alike, not a homage! Read below my review on this tri-branded modern vintage produced by Timex.” – thetick-thetick
The Timex-END-Neighbourhood TW2T25000
The reference TW2T25000 is one of the model produced under the Timex Archive project. It is a signature collection celebrating and honouring the many craftsmen who pioneered the countless Timex styles. Borrowing from over 160 years of watchmaking, Timex has updated these styles to produce modern timepieces with a nod to the originals. The Timex-END-Neighbourhood collaboration features an exclusive iteration of the Timex Navi Collection. Inspired by military and outdoor style, this selling proposition is a perfect collaboration for END and Neighbourhood to get behind. The Neighbourhood streetwear brand was founded in 1994 and is very much influenced by motorcycles. It is considered as one of the most influential brands in contemporary streetwear. END is a menswear retailer. Since opening its store in 2005, END is regarded as one the most influential, forward-thinking niche menswear retailer. Bringing together the style codes from these three transatlantic brands; the Timex reference Tw2T25000 timepiece combines military-inspired details with a biker state of mind. Born of Neighborhood’s love of classic collectibles, this limited-edition timepiece is built to last. Only 2,150 units will be made and distribution is only available through END retail stores.

A vintage diver inspired. A combination of steel, black, white and red markings.

Black matte dial with labels printed in white and red. The indices are printed in white with patina coloured paint on the minute markers. The pencil type minute and hour hands are painted in silvery finish. Same goes to the second hand. The dial setting is reminiscence of the famous Rolex 6204 diver. But the only difference is that this Timex comes with a date function with aperture at three o'çlock.
The 6mm in diameter crown is proportionately sized and fit nicely between the crown guard. It is a push-pull crown, not the screwdown type sufficient for a 100m WR rating. The sawtooth bezel, the bezel insert, and the thick domed mineral crystal adds-up to the watch 12mm overall thickness. The case shoulder is very curvy and so recessed to provide wearing comfort.
The tumbled stainless steel finish gives the watch case a great vintage look. The domed shaped bezel is friction type with bi-directional operation. Quite tight. I believe the friction comes from the rubber ring fitted inside the bezel.
The thick dome mineral crystal blends well with the aging style thus makes the watch really looks like a timeless classic.
A very high quality, thick woven fabric NATO strap is very tough but comfortable. The strap is fitted with 3 loops and a pin buckle. All the strap hardware are made of stainless steel with sand blasted finish.
Snap-on stainless steel case lid. The case back is finely engraved with branding and references.
The watch strapped on nicely on my not so big wrist (17cm in circumference). I guess 47mm tip-to-tip wasn't that small for my wrist size.
Easy strapping. Change of straps with different colours give the watch a different look. Very versatile. Another favourite daily beater!!!
My Opinion on this Watch
  • The Function - A standard daily timekeeper. Suitable for casual wear. The contrast dial setting between black matte background and steel-white hands and indices make the timing easy to read.
  • The Design - A vintage diver look alike and contemporary for casual wear. Nothing fancy but very versatile.
  • The Construction - It is a very well build timepiece by considering the price point.
  • Wearing Comfort - The curvy 38mm watch case hugs well on any wrist size.
"Most of my watches review comes with a lume shot. Not for this Timex newbie. There is no luminous compound applied on the markers and hands. The patina on the markers and hands are just cosmetics. The watch does not feature that standard Timex Indiglo though so it is not visible to read in the dark. A huge set back for this model. That makes this watch a fashion wear. Anyway, I like the look... vintage look. A modern vintage. I hope this model will not be overhyped like the quite popular Q-Timex 70s re-issue - pricey but very average! I saw a store selling this TW2T25000 at RM1,000.00 brand new set!!! Gila..." - thetick-thetick
